End of an Era

It's the end of an era...
the house my dad built has been sold...
mum and dad built their dream house back in the 1950's and brought up their family of three girls there... I remember poking playing cards down between the bare floor boards before we had carpet, climbing big oak trees in the back yard, making a see saw out of a plank of wood and raking leaves to burn on a sunny autumn day... much later Gordon and I got married in that same lovely back garden!

Here is the house that dad built:

and here's the house mum and dad are buying:

There's plenty of rooms and space, a fabulous outdoor deck, but much less garden, no endless hours of vege patch and weeding and mowing etc.

Good luck mum and dad!

Hi Jenny

What a sad day. I am sure your mum and dad are ecstatic about a brand new home with all the new goodies, but it has to be difficult leaving all those memories. I took a video of my mom and dad's house when they sold it just to have it forever. We spent 30+ years celebrating , laughing, crying and enjoying life in our little old house, and although we all have bigger and better it seems the best times were spent crowded in our homestead. Enjoy your memories. ~Donna from Massachusetts(upper right corner)
